Travel Made for Families, by a Family

At Rockhopper Holidays, we believe family travel is more than just a getaway. It’s a chance to share new experiences, strengthen bonds, and create the kind of stories that get retold year after year. We also know that travel is quietly educational – children soak up new cultures, foods, and landscapes without even realising it - isn’t that the best kind of learning?

Who we Are

We’re a family who love to travel. We’re drawn to the allure of the exotic – discovering new places, exploring different cultures, and learning about history and geography as we go. But we also love lazy days by the pool, sandy toes on the beach, and letting the world revolve around us while we relax.

As our adventures grew, we found it harder to find travel agents who would create trips designed just for families like ours. There were plenty of itineraries for honeymooners, retired couples, or very active families – but rarely anything tailored to us. So, we started planning our own holidays from scratch.

That meant no financial protection if something went wrong, and a lot of effort pulling everything together. Friends and other families loved our itineraries, but most didn’t have the time, patience, or know-how to build their own. And that’s where Rockhopper Holidays was born – to design unique journeys for families who want to travel, without the stress.

The best part? Our service is completely free, and every holiday is ABTA and ATOL protected.

💡 Fun fact: Our name comes from Hen – our son’s favourite penguin toy (see above) and possibly the most well-travelled penguin in the world. Penguins are his favourite animal, so of course they had to feature. We like to think Hen represents what we're all about: curiosity, adventure and a little bit of fun. Plus, we like the idea that travel is really just hopping from rock to rock.

What We Do Differently

Every family travels in their own way – which is why we don’t believe in off-the-shelf itineraries. Instead, we get to know you: your children’s ages, your interests, your pace, and even the little things (like whether you’d prefer a day hiking/kayaking, taking a culturall tour, or browsing the local markets).

With that, we create tailor-made journeys that blend comfort, discovery, and the perfect balance of adventure and downtime. From toddlers to grandparents, we design holidays that every generation can enjoy.
